What is
FLOG?
Well,
it's not your average day out on the golf course...
Need to spice up your golfing routine? Keen to
play new courses, but you're not getting time for the
weekends away? Need to arrive at a course in the
ultimate of style? How does a FLOG Run sound to
you?
We're the club where people come to blend helicopter thrills with the pleasure
of golf. FLOG heli-golf runs take place from in
and around the Johannesburg or Durban area to a choice of various
golf courses. The FLOG Run starts either
at Grand Central Airport or the nearest available helipad.
We mostly use the 7-seater Bell 407, but have access
to a number of other choppers - depending on the need.
The Typical FLOG Run
Drive to closest
helipad at 7am, grab a cup of coffee, hop in the
helicopter, fly through to a golf course somewhere in the
Magaliesberg and tee off 15 to 20 minutes later. Play 18
holes and pop back in the helicopter for a ride through the
mountains to a quiet guest house in the hills.
Have lunch and fly back to the helipad you took off
from.
The Club
The
club is a bunch of people who, from time to time, break
the normal routine of a game of golf and organise a FLOG
Run. We are starting to keep some pics of these
trips
so that one day we can look back and remember that we
did have a life.
The Choices
This is a serious business, mind you and the choices are
not easy. Each FLOG Run, we have to choose:
-
The golf course -
hundreds to choose from!
-
The take-off pad!
-
Do we play 1 course or do a Siamese 18 where you
can play 9 holes on one course and the other 9 on
another, and
-
Where do we
snack - a breakfast at Mount Grace or lunch at The
Caribbean Beach Club?
